We spent the morning with brilliant 2-6 year olds from One World Montessori Schools in San Jose and Santa Clara, where we learned about notes, beats, rhythm, and harmony in chamber music! After rousing renditions of “Ba, Ba, Black Sheep” and “Twinkle, Twinkle” at the Cabrillo campus, students had wonderful questions, including inquiries about the bridges of our instruments, formation of quartets, and the formation of Chamber Music by the Bay! The One World Montessori students have wonderful singing voices, and we were so excited to spend our morning with both schools.
Next, we’re heading to work with the orchestra students at Redwood Middle School this afternoon. Last year we learned about elements of chamber music rehearsal and performance, and this year, we’ll apply those same principles to the 2nd string quartet by Bela Bartok!
Don’t forget to join us this evening at 7:00pm at Los Altos Library for our last children’s concert of the 2013 season! We’ll be concluding the evening with an instrument petting zoo, so here’s your chance to try out your very own violins!
